Microsílica or silica fume is a variety of amorphous silica that is formed in the process of manufacturing ferrosilicon and silicon metal. It is collected in the furnaces' effluent gas treatment system.

 

Uses :

Microsílica or silica fume is used as an additive to the Portland type cement, as well as to some high strength concretes. It is also used in the manufacture of ceramics and refractory materials.

 

Capacity of production :

MINASLIGAS can generate presently up to about 5,000 metric tons of micros’lica or silica fume per year.
