Microsilica

Microsilica is an amorphous variety of silica that is formed in the production process of Ferro Silicon and Silicon Metal.

The production of Ferro Silicon and Silicon Metal involves the generation of SiO gas. Part of the gas rises to the top of the Electric Oven, reacting with oxygen in the atmosphere, generating Microsilica (amorphous silica). The microsilica is collected in the filters for treating the effluent gases from the furnaces and then transferred to the densification process. The final product can be supplied in big bags or paper bags.

Applications

Microsilica is used as an additive in the production of Portland cement and in the preparation of certain types of high-strength concrete as well as in the ceramics and refractories industry.
